Scotland is home to the world’s largest bridge made entirely from recycled plastic
Did you know that in the peaceful valleys of Scotland, in Peeblesshire, there is the longest bridge in the world built entirely from recycled plastic? It is called Easter Dawyck Bridge and spans almost 30 m: 3 beams, each 9 m long, all made from 50 tons of plastic waste transformed into a super-resistant and 100% recyclable material♻️
It is sturdy: it can support up to 44 tons, making it suitable for heavy vehicles! What’s more, it doesn’t rust or corrode and requires virtually no maintenance. It was also assembled very quickly: two weeks for the columns and just four days for the beams!🔧
A perfect example of how plastic, often demonized and criticized for its harmful effects, can instead become the protagonist of sustainable infrastructure solutions. As usual, we make the difference.🌍
